Asian Meatballs Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • ¼ cup green onion finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ½ teaspoon honey
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon cilantro finely chopped
  • black pepper to taste

Sticky Sauce

  • ¼ cup light soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • ½ teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400 degree F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, mix beef, onion, green onion, garlic, panko breadcrumbs, soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey, cilantro, egg and black pepper to taste.
  • Combine until everything is incorporated. 
  • Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture. Roll into a ball using hands and transfer to a baking dish. About 22-24 meatballs.
  • Bake meatballs on a pre-heated 400 degrees F oven for about 10 minutes until brown and cooked through.
  • In a small bowl, combine light soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, sriracha and cornstarch.
  • In a medium pan, pour in sauce and whisk for 2-3 minutes until sauce has thickened.
  • Add meatballs and toss for another 2 minutes until meatballs are well coated with sauce.
  • Transfer to a plate and serve immediately.

Notes

Can I skip the sauce?
Yes, you can. This meatballs are already tasty and well seasoned.
Can I substitute beef with pork or chicken?
Yes, you can use ground pork or chicken instead of beef. Make sure you are using 20% fats if pork and for chicken try not to use ground chicken breast as it's too dry.
