Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 piece ginger 1-inch chunk, peeled
  • lemon slices
  • honey or sugar to sweeten, optional

Instructions

  • Wash the ginger root thoroughly to remove any dirt. Peel and slice the ginger into thin rounds or crush it with the back of a knife.
  • In a pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. You can adjust the amount of water depending on how strong you want the tea to be.
  • Once the water is boiling, add the sliced or crushed ginger to the pot.
  • Reduce the heat to low and let the ginger simmer in the water for about 7 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat and strain the tea into a cup to remove the ginger pieces.
  • If you like, you can add a squeeze of calamansi or lemon juice to the tea for a citrusy twist. And add honey or sugar to sweeten it.
  • Best served hot.
