    What is Goma Dressing?

    Goma dressing comes from inspiration to Japanese cuisine. Goma means ''sesame seeds" in Japan, known for it's rich and nutty flavor. This dressing has been loved by many Japanese or people around the world.

    This Goma sauce also know as creamy sesame dressing. Made from toasted sesame seeds, soy sauce, rice vinegar and a touch of sweetness from brown sugar.

    Drizzle this heavenly and irresistible dressing to your salad, rice bowls and wraps to elevates your taste buds.

    My Favorite Dressing

    This dressing is one of my favourites. I'm not really a fan of eating salad that much but after making this recipe, it has become my ultime favourite. So, if you are like me, I urge you to give this Japanese Sesame Dressing a try!

    You might want to try this Japanese tonkatsu pork chops and shrimp yaki udon.

    Ingredients

    • Sesame Seeds: toasted sesame seeds for nutty flavour.
    • Vinegar: this recipe uses rice vinegar for tangy touch.
    • Soy Sauce: low sodium soy sauce or tamari works fine.
    • Sugar: honey or white sugar also works.
    • Sesame Oil: pure sesame oil.

    How to make it

    Once you gather the ingredients, making goma dressing is a super easy process.

    1. Toast sesame seeds in dry skillet
    2. Grind toasted sesame seeds using mortar and pestle
    3. Add the remaining ingredients and mix

    Key Tips

    • Toast sesame seeds before grinding to enhance flavour. Toast in a dry skillet in over medium until golden brown and fragrant.
    • Grinding toasted sesame seeds using mortar and pestle or using spice grinder. Be careful not to overgrind as they turn into a paste.
    • Season to taste by adjusting the seasoning (salt and pepper).

    Ingredients
      

    • 3 tablespoon white sesame seeds toasted
    • 1½ tablespoon soy sauce less sodium soy sauce
    • 2½ tablespoon rice vinegar
    • 2 teaspoon sugar
    • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
    • 1 clove garlic grated

    Instructions
     

    • Toast sesame seeds in over medium heat skillet until golden brown. Transfer them to mortar.
    • Begin by grinding the toasted sesame seeds using a mortar and pestle or a spice grinder to achieve a fine consistency. Set it aside.
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sugar and grated garlic. Mix well until well incorporated.
    • Add the ground toasted sesame seeds to the mixture and stir to combine. This will give the dressing its characteristic nutty flavor and creamy texture.
    • Drizzle dressing over salad and enjoy!
