    Easy Filipino Spaghetti

    This classic Filipino Spaghetti is made with sweet meat sauce. This is one of my favourite filipino dishes, it is so easy to prepare and sure it's a hit!

    Ingredients needed for Filipino Spaghetti

    Ingredient Notes

    • spaghetti noodles: any spaghetti noodles brand will work just fine. Cook according to package instructions.
    • hotdogs: hotdogs are key ingredient for this recipe. Any hotdog brand will also work.
    • ketchup: we are using banana ketchup. You will find them in Asian, Filipino Store or any Grocery Store.
    • tomato Sauce: canned tomato sauce is used for this recipe.
    • ground beef: must haves!
    • onion: white or red onion.
    • bell pepper: green or red bell pepper.
    • cheese: for cheesy flavour.

    Step-by-step Instruction

    Step 1: Cooking Spaghetti Noodles: Cook spaghetti noodles according to package instuctions. Drain and set aside.

    Step 2: Making the Sweet Sauce:

    First, cook sliced hotdogs for two minutes or until lightly brown. Remove from the pan and set it aside.

    Second, sautè onion, garlic and bell pepper until softened. Add ground beef, stir occasionally and break into small pieces.

    Third, add tomato sauce, banana ketchup and sugar. Simmer for 10 minutes until sauce has thickened. Stir in cooked hotdogs.

    Step 3: Serving

    Scoop spaghetti meat sauce over noodles and top with shredded cheese.

    How to store Leftover

    • For best results store the meat sauce separately then make noodles when you're about to eat it.
    • Transfer the meat sauce in air tight container or bag and refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze up to 3 weeks.

    Ingredients
      

    • 1 lb spaghetti noodles
    • 1 lb ground lean beef
    • 3 tablespoon olive oil
    • 4 pieces hotdogs cut diagonally
    • 1 medium onion finely chopped
    • 4 cloves garlic minced
    • 1 medium bell pepper seeded and finely chopped
    • 2 cups tomato sauce
    • 1½ cup banana ketchup
    • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • grated cheese

    Instructions
     

    Cook Spaghetti Noodles

    • In a large pot over medium heat, cook spaghetti according to package directions in salted water. Drain well.

    Making the sweet sauce

    • In a large sauce pan, add oil. Fry hotdogs for 1-2 minutes until lightly brown. Set it aside.
    • On the same pan, add oil. Sauté onion, garlic and bell pepper for 2-3 minutes until softened.
    • Add ground beef. Stirring occasionally, break into small pieces and cook for 5 minutes until brown. Stir in soy sauce.
    • Add tomato sauce and banana ketchup. Stir in sugar. Simmer for another 30 minutes until meat is fully cooked. Add cooked hotdogs. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

    Serve

    • Scoop spaghetti meat sauce over noodles and top with shredded cheese.
