- rice: a day old rice or leftover rice works best in making fried rice.
- butter: unsalted butter. If you are using salted butter then soy sauce should be adjusted.
- eggs: 2 eggs. Separate egg yolks from white.
- soy sauce: low sodium soy sauce.
- garlic: lots of garlic! I used 6 cloves of garlic for this recipe.
- green onions: extra flavour.
- black pepper: black or white pepper is fine.
- chili flakes: add some if you want spicy! (optional)
Step-by-step Instructions
Step 1: In over medium heat pan, melt butter. Sautè garlic for 2-3 minutes or until brown. Add white parts of green onions. Mix egg yolks and rice in a separate bowl before adding in a pan.
Step 2: Add rice and mix well with garlic. Season with soy sauce, black pepper, and salt. Add green onions. Mix everything together until evenly distributed.
Step 3: Move rice on the side, add butter. Add white eggs and wait for 20 seconds before scrambling egg whites. Mix eggs and rice together for 2-3 minutes.
Step 4: Remove from the pan and place in a serving plate. Garnish with green onion and serve!

Garlic Butter Fried Rice
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked rice
- 6 cloves garlic
- 2 tablespoon butter melted
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 2 stalks green onions
- 2 larges eggs
- 1½ teaspoon soy sauce
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- salt if needed
Instructions
- Separate egg yolks and egg whites. Mix rice and egg yolks on a bowl.
- In over medium heat pan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter and add 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Add garlic and sautè for 2-3 minutes or until brown. Add white parts of green onions.
- Add cooked rice and mix with garlic for 3-4 minutes. Season with soy sauce, black pepper and salt if needed. Stir in green onions. Mix everything until evenly distributed.
- Push rice on the side, add 1 tablespoon of butter. Add white eggs and wait for 20 seconds before scrambling egg whites.
- Mix eggs and rice together for another 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from the pan and place in a serving plate. Garnish with green onion and serve.
