    Garlic Butter Fried Rice

    Sometimes you may find yourself with some leftover rice, and one great option is making Garlic Butter Fried Rice! It's budget friendly, vegetarian, and has a wonderful savoury taste. This recipe takes less than 20 minutes so include it today in your dinner plans.

    Ingredient Notes

    • rice: a day old rice or leftover rice works best in making fried rice.
    • butter: unsalted butter. If you are using salted butter then soy sauce should be adjusted.
    • eggs: 2 eggs. Separate egg yolks from white.
    • soy sauce: low sodium soy sauce.
    • garlic: lots of garlic! I used 6 cloves of garlic for this recipe.
    • green onions: extra flavour.
    • black pepper: black or white pepper is fine.
    • chili flakes: add some if you want spicy! (optional)

    Step-by-step Instructions

    Step 1: In over medium heat pan, melt butter. Sautè garlic for 2-3 minutes or until brown. Add white parts of green onions. Mix egg yolks and rice in a separate bowl before adding in a pan.

    Step 2: Add rice and mix well with garlic. Season with soy sauce, black pepper, and salt. Add green onions. Mix everything together until evenly distributed.

    Step 3: Move rice on the side, add butter. Add white eggs and wait for 20 seconds before scrambling egg whites. Mix eggs and rice together for 2-3 minutes.

    Step 4: Remove from the pan and place in a serving plate. Garnish with green onion and serve!

    Ingredients
      

    • 2 cups cooked rice
    • 6 cloves garlic
    • 2 tablespoon butter melted
    • 1 teaspoon olive oil
    • 2 stalks green onions
    • 2 larges eggs
    • 1½ teaspoon soy sauce
    • ½ teaspoon black pepper
    • salt if needed

    Instructions
     

    • Separate egg yolks and egg whites. Mix rice and egg yolks on a bowl.
    • In over medium heat pan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter and add 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Add garlic and sautè for 2-3 minutes or until brown. Add white parts of green onions.
    • Add cooked rice and mix with garlic for 3-4 minutes. Season with soy sauce, black pepper and salt if needed. Stir in green onions. Mix everything until evenly distributed.
    • Push rice on the side, add 1 tablespoon of butter. Add white eggs and wait for 20 seconds before scrambling egg whites.
    • Mix eggs and rice together for another 2-3 minutes. 
    • Remove from the pan and place in a serving plate. Garnish with green onion and serve.
